What does evoke do?
evoke is a hands-free cooking app. It reads each step of a recipe aloud, listens while you cook, runs your timers, answers questions about the recipe out loud, and keeps a record of what you changed, so the next cook starts from what you learned.
What can I say while cooking?
There is nothing to memorise. Talk to it the way you would talk to someone helping in the kitchen. A few things people say:
- “next”
- That step is done; evoke reads the next one.
- “go back”
- Reopens the step you just finished.
- “the eggs are in”
- Ticks them off.
- “set a timer for 20 minutes”
- Starts one. Several can run at once.
- “how much flour”
- The amount, from the recipe.
- “how do I know when it's done”
- A question, answered out loud.
- “skip this step”
- Moves on and records that you skipped it.
- “stop”
- Stops the reading.
If it doesn't answer, start with its name: “evoke, is this done?”
How do I bring a recipe in?
Choose Add a Recipe, then do one of three things: paste a link from a recipe site; take a photo of the page, the recipe card or the package (several photos make one recipe); or type or paste the text. evoke shows you a draft, and you check it before it is saved.
How do I change a recipe's size?
On the recipe's page, choose a size, such as half or double, or type your own number. Every amount on the page changes with it. When you start a cook, evoke asks how much you're making.
How do I delete my account?
In the app, tap the round button at the top of your kitchen, then Delete my account. evoke asks once, then closes the account. Your recipes, cooks and photographs and everything you said or typed are removed, and this cannot be undone. Pictures the app drew are shared with other people and stay; so do our cost records, which no longer name you.
If you can't get into the app, write to support@evokekitchen.com from the address you signed up with and we will delete it for you.
Can I get evoke today?
evoke is in private testing, on iPhone and in the browser (Chrome and Safari).
